Holliston, MA (ContentDesk) February 17, 2006 -- Rypos, Inc., developer of an advanced, self-regenerating filter that reduces harmful emissions from diesel engines, has been granted California Air Resources Board (CARB) Verification for its Rypos ADPF" filter. The level 2 CARB verification states that during extensive tests, the filter reduced particulate matter by 50 percent or more on stationary diesel engines that power standby generators and run on high sulfur fuel -- fuel with up to 500 ppm of sulfur. The companys two product lines are the now
CARB-Verified Rypos ADPF" and Rypos ADPF/C". Both filters are
designed for OEM manufacturers and to retrofit 100 kW to 2 MW engines. The Rypos ADPF" is designed for older diesel engines operating on high-sulfur fuel.
During CARB tests, The Rypos ADPF" well exceeded the Level 2 Verification standard by reducing total particulate matter by more than 60%. In addition, the Rypos ADPF can be configured with a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC)
for further reductions of the soluble organic fraction, hydrocarbons, and carbon monoxides. CARB also granted conditional verifications for diesel-operated pumps typically used in farming and oil-fields. Our advanced filters are already being deployed in applications as diverse as
two-stroke marine engines on US NAVY vessels, earth moving equipment at a major public works project in the Bronx, NY and a two MegaWatt diesel power plant in South Korea. Since California regulatory agencies
influence the national clean air standards, CARB Verification is a major milestone in our companys development.
It will further expand market opportunities for our products
-- both in the US and internationally, said Klaus Peter,
Rypos president and CEO in announcing CARB Verification. Rypos (www.rypos.com) active regeneration technology is a vast improvement over passive ceramic filters that need high exhaust temperatures to regenerate, which is not dependable when engines run intermittently or in cold climates. The proprietary technology relies on banks of sintered metal filter elements. When a microprocessor senses that the filters need regeneration, it automatically sends an electric current through the conductive fibers to heat them and burn off accumulated particles.
CARB Verification of the Rypos ADPF" covers diesel engines produced from 1996-2007 by manufacturers such as Caterpillar, Detroit Diesel Corporation, Deutz AG, Daimler/Chrysler, Motoren Fabrik HATZ GMBH, Generac, Komatsu, Navistar, Iveco, Deere, Perkins, MTU, MITF, Volvo Penta, Cummins, Daewoo, Hino, Case, GMC, VMMI, JCB, Yanmar, Nissan Diesel, Mitsubishi, Isuzu, Kubota, Lombardini Motori, Case, Scania AB, KUKJ, CNH Engine Corp, Power Systems, MITF, and International Trucks.
In addition to auxiliary and backup generators, pumps, off-road vehicles including locomotives and marine engines, the Rypos ADPF" and ADPF/C " filters are now being evaluated by the mining industry for underground applications where clean air requirements are extraordinary. CARB has assigned the Rypos ADPF" filter the designated family name of: CA/RYP/2005/PM2/N00/ST/DPF01 Rypos Contact: Frank DePetrillo, 508-429-4552. RYPOS, Inc. Cruise Ships For Sale
We all know that cruise ships are great getaway on the high seas. But did you know that cruise ships in all shapes and sizes are available for sale? Depending on your budget, you could buy a cruise ship for a steal at $2 million, or the price can rise into the millions. The price depends on the size of the ship, passenger amenities and its condition. The metal used in building the ship is important too, because rust would prove to be a negative selling point.
Most cruise ships have staterooms, public rooms, cabins, scullery (pantries), dining halls, entertainment areas and swimming pools.
Space for retail outlets such as bookstores, gift, souvenir shops and hair salons, may or may not be present depending on the cruise ship. A spa, health and fitness club, and sports bar are also built into most of the cruise liners. Sanitary facilities should be examined closely in all cabins and public areas to know what basic amenities are available.
